St. Bernard Square Redevelopment Project
St. Bernard, Ohio, is an independent urban jurisdiction located adjacent to Interstate 75 just north of University of Cincinnati’s campus and Cincinnati’s Uptown Innovation Corridor. St. Bernard Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) owns an underperforming strip retail center at Vine Street and Ross Avenue, a key intersection within the village’s heritage business district. In June 2021, St. Bernard selected Civitas Development Group to redevelop its St. Bernard Square shopping center site, working with municipal leaders to transform multiple parcels into one cohesive, pedestrian-oriented development with residential, high-quality retail and a public plaza. The site can accommodate up to 200 housing units and 10,000 square feet of retail/commercial.
